Fynbos History

After refurbishing a historic church building in Mossel Bay to include a Victorian-inspired conservatory, former accountant Naideen Hickman realised her dream to own a lifestyle emporium and opened Fynbos Mossel Bay in 1993. What was at first a shop selling gifts and homeware, became so popular that Naideen opened her inhouse coffee shop in 1994.

Naideen’s outgoing nature coupled with her attention to detail, and talent for cooking and baking, grew into a concept that was a huge success. Such was the demand that Fynbos Coffee Shoppe and Homeware Shoppe branched out to Gansbaai in 2013.

Over the years, the Fynbos name has become synonymous with welcoming service, luxury homeware, personalised gifts and most importantly its coffee shop kitchen that serves generous portions of delicious home cooking and baking made with love by Naideen.
