CCTV Policy Approved

Overstrand Municipality’s revised CCTV Policy was approved by Council on Monday, 29 August 2022.

This policy aims to regulate the use of video surveillance or Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras across the Overstrand. Access to CCTV information, or the request to view footage, or to have a copy of the footage as well as the use of drones at sports fields and social events are being addressed in this policy.

The policy also provides guidance regarding footage being processed, monitored, and recorded to improve the safety and enhance the protection of properties in the respective towns.

Deputy Mayor and MMC of Protection Services, Cllr Lindile Ntsabo, thanked all those who commented and participated in the public participation process. He said this policy fits in with the Executive Mayors' three C's campaign and will assist with combatting crime across the Overstrand jurisdiction.
