Fatbike Tours For Everyone

Don't let the idea of Fatbike riding scare you away. Fatbike Tours are suitable for anyone who can ride a bike and includes riders from as young as eight years old.

Your guide, Fatbike Tours owner Dave Caravias, is patient and moves the ride at a pace that will suit your riding capabilities. That means you get to soak up the experience, and appreciate the nature around you.

Fatbike Tours are more about enjoying the area's fauna and flora, watching magnificent sunsets and having fun than about racing around (although you will get the chance to do that as well if you want to).

The Trail to the Dunes: A Special Journey

The journey to the top of the dunes in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve is truly unique. It takes riders along a narrow sandy horse trail through indigenous fynbos.

You get to breathe in the purest air against the perfect backdrop of rolling mountain ranges and the Atlantic Ocean.

A Feast for the Senses - Riding Down the Sand Channels

Once you reach the top of the Sand Dunes (185 meters above the ocean), it's time to make your way down the sand channels to the dunes fields. There’s a good chance you might even spot southern right whales out in Walker Bay if you plan your Fatbike adventure during the quiet winter months.

Adventure Awaits: Tackling the Steep Sand Faces

For those who crave adventure, Fatbike Tours offers the opportunity to tackle the steep sand faces on the dunes in the Walker Bay Nature Reserve.

It may seem impossible and dangerous at first, but with a tiny bit of bravery, dune riding is gentle and exciting at the same time.

And don’t stress, this is what these big bike tyers were designed to do. Bikes should have been designed like this from the very start!
