Inspiring Young Leaders Through Sport

Youth Development programme news: The Premier Skills International Enterprise Programme kicked off last week within our sports programme with a field trip to the admin office and other departments of the Grootbos Foundation. This group of Grade 9s is from Gansbaai Academia. Grade 9 is a key year during which teenagers are expected to choose subjects that will steer them towards a future career. Providing inspiration, mentorship and pathway options to young people in a way that allows them to feel hopeful about their options is vital.

Build your team! This Grassroots Soccer Lesson was delivered by Coach Danver at a local primary school as a part of the Life Orientation curriculum. By the end of the lesson, learners were able to understand that they cannot identify someone who has HIV just by looking at them. They are able to identify two ways to support someone who is HIV-positive. They are able to identify 3 people they can go to for support. And they know where to locate HIV testing services in their community.

This is Coach Danver and Aisha Valentine, who travelled with the Boland U/20 Rugby team to a tournament in Johannesburg over the weekend. Aisha scored 2 tries, and her whole team and town are proud of her!
