Under the Microscope: Jumping Bristletails!
Have you ever spotted one of these tiny, unusual creatures?
Jumping bristletails are wingless insects with long antennae, bristly bodies and three tail-like appendages. Often found hiding among rocks, under bark and in crevices, they are easy to overlook.
These little escape artists can leap impressive distances for their size and feed on algae, lichens and other organic matter.
Brought to you by Grootbos Foundation, celebrating the fascinating little creatures that make our natural world so interesting!
