Apart from being a favourite fishing spot with the locals. Die Gruis is also known for its secluded stretch of beach, away from the crowds.

After doing the Gansbaai-nod (a special greeting used by locals) to a couple of fishermen, Marlene spotted something in the dunes. Imagine her surprise when she saw some unexpected visitors enjoying a day out at the ocean. And not just any visitors, these special guests were ostriches! Yes, you read right, ostriches. Like Marlene says, “You never know what you will see when you are out and about in Gansbaai!”
