Strandveld Hiking Club: December Hike and Braai

Join us for our final hike of 2024 on Saturday, 14 December 2024!

Hike Details

• Route: From the corner of Storm Street and Cliff Street in De Kelders to the Birkenhead Fishing Club in Gansbaai Harbour.
• Distance: 6 km (easy, mostly rocky path).
• Fitness Level: 3/10.
• Difficulty: 4/10.
• Halfway Stop: Short break for a snack and drink.

Meeting Point

• Time: 08h30
• Location: Parking area above the harbour, near the entrance and Xplorio's office. (Pin drop map attached).

We’ll leave some cars at the harbour parking and arrange lifts to the starting point at Storm Street. After the hike, we’ll drive participants back to collect their vehicles. Please help coordinate this when we meet at 08h30.

Post-Hike Braai

After the hike, relax and socialise at the Birkenhead Fishing Club.

• Braai Master: Eben vd Merwe (thank you, Eben!).
• Contributions so far: 10 salads, tomato and onion relish, and a cake.

Enjoy a boerie roll and salads while we review the club’s year and discuss ideas for hikes in 2025. A cash bar will be available.

Volunteers Needed

• Two non-walking members to set up the hall before the group arrives.
• Members to confirm attendance and contributions to help us finalise catering and bar arrangements.

So far, 34 members are confirmed for the walk and braai. If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, please let us know!

Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
