Winter Fun on the Dunes
Winter has set in and I am still running daily tours in this wonderful paradise. In the summer the Walker Bay reserve is hot with steep soft sand dunes making rides exhilarating. The dunes are very steep and large but the sand is very slow and soft. People panic when getting to the top of the steep dunes when they realise that they will be riding down them but once going down it is very steep and slow making it safe for all but extremely exciting. Now we are in the winter the dunes are firmer, rounder more gentle and not so steep making them thrilling to ride down doing the slalom just like skiing. This activity is just incredible all through the year for all whether it is cold or hot. Experience riding through the pristine dunes from 185 meters above sea level down a 7km ride from the mountain down to the beach. The activity is excellent for anyone who can ride a bike with good all-round health and normal fitness from the age of 8 years old.
Whether you are a novice or a pro-rider you will not have experienced such fun on a bike navigating through and down the vast sand dune field with the stunning backdrop of Walker Bay and the De Kelders cliffs. Whale season has arrived and during the last couple of weeks we have seen Whales in the bay during the ride as well as a very special Sunset with dozens of Dolphins surfing the waves along Die Plaat.
The tour is excellent for nature lovers and we will look for animal tracks and learn about plant species along the way. Most days we have fresh tracks on the Dunes from the likes of the Cape Leopard, Honey Badger, Caracal, Porcupine and Grysbok naming a few.

This is a MUST DO activity when in the Gansbaai / Hermanus area. This is truly a 'Bucket-List' adventure that you didn’t know was on the List :-)
Tours are run daily throughout the year except for Christmas day, New Year’s Day and on bad weather days which are minimal.
