“We really enjoyed it. Friendly crew and loved seeing the sharks!” - Deb, Mandi and Kirsten
Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Poor
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Cape fur seal, Sunfish + Bryde’s whale
Summary: This morning, our journey started from Gansbaai Harbour due to the lower water in our local Kleinbaai alternative. The journey past the iconic Danger Point offered us our first wildlife sighting of the day, an ocean sunfish, the largest bony fish species in our oceans! A brief spout and dorsal alerted us to the presence of a Bryde’s whale; however, the elusive species opted for a deeper dive. At the dive site, the Bronze whaler sharks were present throughout the trip, with larger females offering thrilling sightings. Returning to Kleinbaai Harbour, we concluded a successful day of marine sightings. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
