Location: Gansbaai, South Africa
Dive site: Joubertsdam
Water temp: Moderate
Visibility: Good
Sightings: Bronze whaler sharks, Cape fur seal, Short-tail stingray, Sunfish + Bryde’s whales
Summary: A great trip today, with a multitude of marine sightings! Launching from Gansbaai harbour due to lower tide, we made our way past Danger Point, where we had our first encounter, a Bryde’s whale mom and calf. Within a short distance from them, we experienced an up-close sighting of a sunfish. Once at the dive site, divers were entertained by a Cape fur seal as they changed into their wetsuits. The Bronze whaler sharks were with us shortly, with multiple individuals of varying sizes to keep our guests company. The final sighting of the day was the large Short-tail stingrays, an individual sporting a shark bite acquired in 2023, making her recognisable. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
