Teachers in Tekkies (TNT) Event 4 September 2020
Please help us by supporting our Hermanus High School Teachers at Teachers in Tekkies (TNT) event this coming Friday.
Most of us will recognize the young man in the photo above, his name is Emile Pieterse and he was appointed as the official Strength & Conditioning coach at our High School at the beginning of 2020. Emile went to school in Hermanus after which he studied and qualified with a Sports Science degree at Potch University. He is also a highly accomplished 800m national track athlete holding several junior track records with a PB time of 1:50:01 (folks that’s blitzvinnig!).
Sadly as a result of the negative effect that the COVID pandemic has had on our education system locally, Emile and many other SGB funded teaching positions are in jeopardy at the moment. Thankfully the school value their teaching staff and want to maintain the high standard of education that they have set by retaining their teachers so they are thinking laterally by joining forces not only with their pupils’ parents but also by joining forces with local companies such as Proactive Fitness in creating and promoting events such as this Friday’s TNT athletics day where we have an opportunity to sponsor their teachers!
Well on that positive note our money is safely going towards sponsoring Emile on Friday as I am MOST certain that he will walk/run the most laps around their athletics track this Friday and in the fastest time ever. I will put up a branded gazebo for him and he will be kitted out in our Proactive Fitness gear so it’s a great opportunity not only for us to get involved and make a difference locally at the high school by ensuring that their teacher's salaries are paid but also to show the kids that the Proactive Fitness team are prepared to invest in their education and furthermore to encourage them to all stay fit and healthy at the same time.
