Embrace the Climb: Finding Motivation in Sports and Life
The cricket player does not know when he/she will hit their next "6". The tennis player does not know when they will win a clear set. And so it is with every sport. But do they give up after a "dry spell"? Or are they even more focused and driven?
To appreciate the gold, we must know what it feels like to come last. To use being where we do not want to be (bottom), we must know what it feels like to be at the top. We cannot appreciate the one without the other.
What we do know is that every time we go out and we follow our passion, we are one step, one minute closer to achieving our dream. And along the way, we pick up opportunities to prepare us to have the ultimate experience the day we achieve that goal.
Both can serve as motivation to keep climbing or improving. The question is: where are you going to choose to get stuck?
Be sure to show up for your "game" every day, you are never sure when it will be the moment for the gold.
