#FastTipTuesday - Raise the Grain
Raise the bar when you raise the grain on raw wood - a preparation process you should always implement after sanding before applying a water-based finish. Simply brush, sponge or spray on some distilled water, wipe off the lifted fine dust using a damp rag and let it dry thoroughly (overnight is best). Then apply the first coat and then re-sand with your fine grit paper or scouring pad to break off the whiskers and wipe clean.
Now when you apply the finish, the grain will stay down.
