Gansbaai Tourism wishes all the readers a happy and productive 2014. Looking back on the Festive season: From all reports received the “season” was two weeks long and it was a bumper one! The bureau itself was very busy with over 1,900 visitors and many of them first timers to Gansbaai.
The Tourism Bureau was open every day during this time, except Christmas Day. Of course the weather was sunny and hot for happy holiday-makers. One of the comments in our visitor book reads as follows: “The Tourism Bureau is too interesting. A good place to stay and read with a beer…!” written by a couple from France. Our member restaurants report that they were very busy. On the whole the holiday makers were friendly and happy to wait a bit longer for their good quality food. Accommodation was at a premium between Christmas and New Year and it was really difficult to get accommodation for the walk-ins. Very often large groups travelling together with pets. The caravan parks also reported a good, busy season. As there were first timers to the area they participated in a variety of activities and of course as the weather was so favourable the beaches were crowded. Other shops in the area (especially those selling groceries) were very busy and the locals all went early morning or late afternoon to do their shopping. Some even avoided the centre of town completely I believe!
‘n Paar gevalle van vandalisme is gerapporteer en dit is jammer dat mense hier kan kom kuier en dan nie die omgewing respekteer nie. Dit is onaanvaarbaar dat daar ‘n paar gevalle van roof was. Vakansiegangers is dan “soft targets”. Ons moet saamstaan om so iets te bekamp, aangesien ons Gansbaai juis as ‘n veilige plek bemark waar vakansie gehou kan word.
Aanbiedinge - Ons is besig om ‘n kalendar van gebeure (events) op te stel en alle organisasies, produkeienaars en dies meer word versoek om hul gebeure deur te gee. Al dink julle dit is nie belangrik nie en julle doen julle eie bemarking - onthou dat mense die Inligtingskantoor skakel vir inligting oor ‘n wye spektrum van onderwerpe, insluitend gebeurtenisse waarvan hulle gehoor het. Ons kan nie die inligting verskaf indien ons nie daarvan in kennis gestel is nie.
Die gebeurtenisse word ook na ander dorpe uitgestuur en word ook op ons Facebookblad vermeld. Vakansiefotos - op die Buro se Facebook is daar ‘n kompetisie en twee gelukkig wenners kan elk R500 losslaan. Al wat benodig word is ‘n Gansbaai vakansiefoto met ‘n toepaslike opskrif. Plaas dit op ons Faceboekblad en staan ‘n kans om te wen. Motiveer asseblief julle familie en vriende wat hier vakansie gehou het om deel te neem. ‘n R500 sal seker nou welkom wees! Events coming up - 8/9 February: Lighthouse to Lighthouse Mountain bike ride; 26 February: Birkenhead Commemoration Service and activities. Bemarking van die dorp is een van Gansbaai Toerisme se hoofdoelwitte.
Ons werk nou saam met Suné Greeff (Cape Whale Coast Tourism marketing manager) en dus as Cape Whale Coast gaan ons die Beeld Holiday Show in Februarie in Midrand, asook die Getawayskou in Somersetwes in Maartmaand bywoon. Ons hoor graag van julle!
