This past weekend we celebrated Earth Hour 2014 and it was great to see everyone powering down and doing their bit to honour the Earth. With the lights off many Overberg folks turned their eyes to the heavens and opted for warming light of candles and fires to celebrate the annual environmental event.

Starting off the week with the last day of March, we look ahead to all the great events taking place in April. We start the month off with the weekly Friday Market at the NG Church Pretorius Hall. This weekend the Strandveld Hiking Club will start their monthly hike off in the Gansbaai Harbour and trek past the Danger Point Lighthouse to Kruismansbaai. The hike will be fairly strenuous in some parts so be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring enough water and something to snack on.
On Friday the 18th of April we celebrate Good Friday which signals the beginning of Easter weekend. The rest of the weekend is packed with the festivities of the Pearly Beach Basaar. The weekend also shows its artistic colours with the first leg of the B’bos Art Route. We finish off the action packed weekend with Easter Monday on the 21st of April.
We end off this festive month with the Bread Making Workshop taking place in the home of artist, Neil Jonker and complement it with the Wine-Tasting Guild’s meeting on the last Friday of this great month.
