Flowering on Flower Valley Farm

Flowering on Flower Valley Farm

Flower Valley Conservation Trust

The beautiful March lily is currently flowering on Flower Valley Farm. And following the wild fynbos fires in the region in the past few weeks, we could expect to see more of these colourful bulbous fynbos plants showing up.

The March lily is known to only show its beauty for a short time in a year – around March. This plant will also bloom after bush fires in its native mountainous fynbos habitat, when the dense vegetation is no longer present to stop its growth. Even though it’s called a lily, these plants are part of the fynbos family, and are only distantly related to the true lily.
