The last three months have been a busy time for Gansbaai Tourism. Up until midway through January we were still receiving a large number of holiday makers to the Bureau each day, along with requests for accommodation and activities to participate in. Gansbaai remains a popular holiday destination! During February we were busy with the arrangements and the eventual hosting of the Birkenhead Commemoration activities. This is an important event on the Gansbaai calendar and takes place on the 26th of February every year. Gedurende Maart was daar verskeie Expo’s waaraan die Cape Whale Coast deelgeneem het met die doel om die area te bemark. Verteenwoordigers van die vier Overstrand Toerismeburo's was by die Beeld Expo in Midrand en die Cape Getaway Show in Somerset-Wes. Glenda Kitley en Heinrich Jansen van Gansbaai Toerisme het die Argus Expo bygewoon. Die Hermanus Whalecrier het ook saamgegaan. Hierdie is ‘n bedrywige skou en baie mense is geïnteresseerd in die plekke buite Kaapstad waar hulle kan gaan vakansie hou. Die nuwe aktiwiteitskaart wat deur Overstrand Toerisme (Cape Whale Coast) uitgegee is, het groot byval gevind. (belangstellendes is welkom om een by die Buro te kom haal). Kom maak gerus ‘n draai by die Toerismekantoor in die Gatewaysentrum waar die vriendelike en behulpsame personeel die vele aktiwiteite en attraksies sal uitwys. Daar is ook ‘n toerismestalletjie by die Kreef Derby wat op 30 Maart gehou word. Bo en behalwe die nodige inligting wat daar beskikbaar sal wees, sal daar ook speletjies vir die kinders wees met lekker pryse om te wen. Gansbaai Tourism is working closely with Gansbaai Explore who hosts a website that includes all businesses in Gansbaai free of charge. (So if you have a business in Gansbaai and you are not part of this website – you are loosing out!). Gansbaai Explore will be running a competition over the Easter weekend and the prize is a Fuji camera worth R2000! One can enter at the Tourism stall at the Crayfish Derby or at the Bureau on Saturday 30 March. The draw takes place on Tuesday 2 April. A visit to the Tourism bureau will give you some insight into the various activities and the displays are interesting and informative. The personnel can also give you information on activities and attractions in the neighbouring towns. If you would like to be on the Tourism Bureau’s database and receive newsletters and info on the events being held in Gansbaai throughout the year, send your contact details to the Bureau – gansbaaiinfo@telkomsa.net – with database in the subject line. The Bureau will be closed on Good Friday but will be open on Saturday the 30th and Monday the 1st of April from 09h00-16h00 and on Easter Sunday from 10h00-14h00. From the 2nd of April the Bureau is open from 08h30-17h00 on Weekdays.
Nuwe baadjie vir Fees van die Ganse
Hierdie jaar kry die Fees van die Ganse ‘n nuwe baadjie. Dit word so te sê in twee verdeel. Die eerste deel is die Winter Fynbosskou en Musiekjolyt wat vanaf 8-11 Augustus plaasvind. Meer inligting hieroor sal volg, maar teken hierdie datum solank in die dagboeke aan. Dit gaan iets besonders wees! Die tweede gedeelte van die fees word vir September beplan. Op Dindsdag 9 April vind ‘n vergadering om 18h00 by die Toerismesentrum plaas om die Fees te bespreek. Almal is welkom om dit te kom bywoon en insette te lewer.
