Gansbaaise Atleet Gerrit Cloete Presteer weer

Die Gansbaaise atleet Gerrit (Janes) Cloete het weer in 'n wedloop in Amerika presteer. Die 29-jarige Janes het pas sy kategorie (mans 20 - 29) gewen in die Newport-halfmarathon (21,1 km) in die staat Oregon. Hy was algeheel vyfde in 'n tyd van 1 uur 34 minute. Die roete het bestaan uit 10 km op 'n grondpad en die res strandlangs. Janes werk as ingenieur op 'n eiland in die Persiese Golf en gebruik meestal sy verlof om aan wedlope in die VSA deel te neem.

Hy was vroeër vanjaar vierde uit 150 deelnemers in 'n halfmarathon in Texas. Sy pa, Gerrit Snr, woon in Franskraal en Janes beskou homself as 'n Gansbaaier. Hy skryf hom ook assulks vir internasionale wedlope in.
