Blame and excuses keep you trapped in victimhood

First let us look at what is victimhood. When you hold the perception that things happen to you, that you play no role in the effect of your behaviour, and that you have no power to change the present so you may bring about a better future.

Daily I hear how people find excuses for even the smallest actions they have taken which resulted in their best outcome not materialising.

When we forget things we blame the person who asked us something at the last minute. What about the most popular excuse of all; when we are late it is because someone was driving slowly or the traffic was slow.

You forgot something because you leave everything to the last minute or your "things" are scattered all over the office or house. When you are late you are likely disorganised and left late - already setting yourself up to be late the moment you walk out the door. You play an active role in everything that you perceive as an outside force happening to you.

Today, stop every time when you are ready to give an excuse and ask yourself what role you played. There lies your opportunity of growth and empowerment.
