Mrs. Fortuin - Principal of Gansbaai Academia
Meet Mrs. Fortuin, the proud Principal of Gansbaai Academia. She has dedicated her life to education and helping young people achieve their dreams.
About Mrs. Fortuin:
Mrs. Fortuin grew up in the Northern Cape with parents who were both teachers. This inspired her to follow the same path. She studied at the University of the Western Cape and worked hard to achieve:
• BA Degree (1991) and HDE (1992)
• B.Ed (1997) and M.Ed (2001)
• ACE: Leadership (2015) from Stellenbosch University
Her journey at Gansbaai Academia started when the school opened in 2010. Since then, she has been:
• Department Head (2012)
• Deputy Principal (2014)
• Principal (2022 – now)
Her Vision for Gansbaai Academia:
Mrs. Fortuin wants Gansbaai Academia to be a place where all learners can succeed. Her dreams for the school include:
• Adding new subjects like Robotics, Coding, and Digital Technology
• Growing the school’s restaurant to help learners work in the Tourism industry
• Preparing learners for careers in Medicine, Law, Marine Science, Tourism, and Business
