Under the Microscope - A Father’s Day Look Back
This past Father’s Day, we took a moment to appreciate one of nature’s most devoted dads - the Flower Assassin bug (Rhynocoris). These ambush predators are often found waiting near flowers, ready to catch unsuspecting insects.
What makes some of these insect dads truly special is what happens after the eggs are laid. The male doesn’t just disappear; he stays behind to guard the eggs, keeping them safe from parasites and predators, and protecting the next generation.
A big thank you to all the dads, bug or human, who stick around, protect, and care. You’re appreciated every day, not just on Father’s Day!
