Why Your Support For Our Steri-Thon Matters
Our planned Steri-Thon not only includes sterilisation, but also the Rabies vaccination and the 5in1 vaccination, deworming and tick and flea treatment.
In many underserved communities, dogs are beloved companions - but they often go unvaccinated due to limited access to veterinary care. This leaves them vulnerable to deadly diseases like canine distemper, parvovirus, and rabies - all of which are preventable.
As a community, we have an opportunity to help change this.
Why It Affects Us All
• Prevention is more humane and cost-effective. Treating outbreaks is far more expensive and heartbreaking than preventing them. Vaccinations save lives and reduce suffering.
• Rabies is a public health issue. Rabies is fatal and transmissible to humans. Vaccinating dogs in our communities is the most effective way to protect both people and pets.
• Disease doesn’t respect boundaries. Outbreaks of highly contagious diseases like distemper can spread rapidly, especially in areas with high dog populations and low vaccination rates. These diseases can unfortunately easily spill over into neighboring areas.
• It’s an act of community solidarity. Supporting our Steri-Thons which include vaccinations, is a powerful way to uplift our communities, promote animal welfare, and contribute to a healthier, safer environment for everyone.
