The Building Industry Bargaining Council (Cape of Good Hope), which includes the Overstrand Municipality, is hosting an information session for the employers in the building industry to obtain information pertaining to the Minister of Labour’s extension of the latest Collective Agreement.
The session will take place on Wednesday, 14 May 2014 at 6pm, at the Wine Village Conference Room, Hemel en Aarde Village, Hermanus.
“The Collective Agreement prescribes the latest wage rates and conditions of employment in the Building Industry including the Overstrand Municipality, and in addition to this it has introduced a new Labour Category to alleviate the previous large gap between a labourer and a general worker category”, explained Arnold Williams, Secretary for Building Industry Bargaining Council (Cape of Good Hope).
The Minister of Labour extended the latest Collective Agreement pertaining to all employers in the building industry within the area of jurisdiction of the Building Industry Bargaining Council (Cape of Good Hope) (Government Notice No. R.163, Government Gazette number 37415).
Building and related contractors, which include painters, water proofers, flooring companies, plumbers and joiners amongst others, are in breach of the law if they do not comply with the latest Building Industry Bargaining Council’s employment eonditions.
