On Thursday 28 August Gansbaai Tourism held a function to celebrate their new-look bureau.
The reception and display area has been painted and new photos put up. The curio area has moved to the front reception area where it is more visible and will be stocked with interesting and exciting curios for the tourists. The display area will always be a work in motion as it will change and be updated on a regular basis. A number of guests, members and friends attended this function and were treated to snacks and wine. The wine of De Werf Baardskeerdersbos was tasted for the first time by many and the conclusion was that it is another good product of the Overstrand!
In March 2014 Johan Pieterse, chairman of Gansbaai Tourism, paid a visit to the borough of Wirral which includes the town of Birkenhead. There he met with Andy Liston who came out to the Birkenhead Commemoration in February as well as the mayor of Wirral, Johan was privileged to see the monument that has been erected in the town to commemorate the building and sinking of the HMS Birkenhead.
The mayor presented Johan with a special book which was handed over to the mayor of the Overstrand, Cllr Nicolette Botha-Guthrie.
