“Vandag se gebeure is ‘n eerste vir Gansbaai en ek is trots op die leiers van Overstrand,” het Minister Bonginkosi Madikizela, Wes-Kaapse Minister van Behuising, tydens ‘n sooispit-seremonie in Gansbaai gesê. “Wat op een dag by vier munisipaliteite gebeur het, gebeur nie aldag nie.” Maar hy het ook daarna verwys dat begrotings ernstig besnoei word om hoofsaaklik op ekonomiese groei en werkskepping te fokus.
Op Vrydag, 21 November 2014 het die sooispit-seremonie bokant Buitekantstraat langs die Industriële gebied deur die minister en rdl Nicolette Botha-Guthrie, Overstrandse Uitvoe-rende Burgemeester, saam met ander hooggeplaastes, plaasge-vind. Die area is vir 155 bekostigbare wooneenhede ge-oormerk. Die pryse van die huise is steeds nie gefinaliseer nie, maar kan steeds na gelang van die grootte op tussen R350,000 en R480,000 gereken word. Belangstellendes moet ‘n gesonde kredietrekord kan toon en nog nooit voorheen ‘n eiendom besit het nie. Hulle moet ook oor ‘n gesamentlike huishoudelike inkomste van R3,501 tot R15,000 per maand beskik.
(Soos voorheen berig) Met verwysing na die Gansbaai GAP Projek, het rdl Botha-Guthrie gesê: “It has always been clear that it would be a very slow start for delivery from 2010, with a lot of planning work that still needed to be done. True to this, only a total of 600 serviced sites and houses were delivered over the last four and a half years. It was however, also said that the rate of delivery would pick up from 2014 and this is a promise that we are now adhering to. Today we are not only delivering 155 serviced sites in the Gansbaai GAP Project, but also having sod turning for three other projects in Hermanus, being the Zwelihle Upgrading of Informal Settlements, the Mount Pleasant Integrated Residential Development and the Swartdamweg Institutional Subsidy Projects. These three projects will deliver a total of 1,359 serviced sites over the next few years.”
Rieger van Rooyen, Direkteur: Motlekar, sê hierdie behuisingsprogram is in lyn met Overstrand Munisipaliteit se 5-jaar Behuisings-strategie, met Motlekar as die implementeringsagent vir die siviele werk. ‘n Mediaverklaring deur die Wes-Kaapse Regering lui soos volg: “Minister Madikizela used the oppor-tunity to commend the Overstrand Municipality, developer Motlekar, the respective Social Compact leaders and the communities concerned for working together in assisting government in its goal of delivering sustainable and integrated human settlements to its people. Minister Madikizela stated that ‘these projects are a true flagship of integrated and sustainable human settlements principles.’ A budget of approximately R78.9 million has been allocated for the respective Upgrading of Informal Settlements Programme (UISP), Integrated Residential Development Programme (IRDP) and Gap housing developments. On completion 836 houses, 1,365 services, 155 sites and 329 tops will be delivered.”
Die voorsitter van “Social Compact” (Akkoord vir Laekoste Behuising), Gerda Wessels, het ook haar vreugde oor die vordering uitgespreek. “Enige persoon wat ‘n verband kan afbetaal, kan sy eie woning besit,” het sy gesê.
