Local business, Taurus Chemicals, supports the Grootbos Foundation with Generous Donation. Friday afternoon was marked by a great act of community spirit when Taurus Chemicals, based in Gansbaai, donated R20, 000 and state of the art running kit to the Grootbos Foundation. By participating in community initiatives, Taurus Chemicals has teamed up with the Grootbos Foundation with the aim to support the sustainable development of society.
Their mission statement aligns with the aims of the Grootbos Foundation; to better educate and provide opportunities for the youth of our Gansbaai community. The donation, organised by Taurus General Manager Adéle Geldenhuys, was handed out to the Foundation’s Athletics children by Football Foundation coaches Corrie Avenant and Danver August, as well as Project Manager Natasha Bredekamp.
The donation could not have come at a better time, with Boland Running Trials taking place in Worcester on Saturday 6th. At the trials, wearing their state of the art, branded running kit, the Football Foundation athletics children performed at their exceptional best with 4 of the children finishing in the top 5 overall. The Foundation’s U9 runner, Vasti Peterson showed great promise for the future fi-nishing 2nd. German Lewis, the u13 SA Schools runner fi-nished 1st with an expected impressive run out; and finally Themba and Thembisile Mangali both finished in the open category 3rd and 4th respectively.
“Not only have Taurus provided us with state of the art kit, but the opportunity of running at Boland trials and the morale booster they have provided us with, have helped us show the greater region exactly what we have to offer – pure talent,” celebrated Grootbos Foundation Project Manager Natasha Bredekamp. With Taurus’ recent support for the Grootbos Foundation; the Gansbaai community can be proud in the knowledge that local businesses are doing their bit for the sustainable development of society.
Providing opportunities to the youth of the Gansbaai community, the recent donation is proof that the hard work of the Grootbos Foundation is not only working, but flourishing.
