Overstrand Fire Dept receives Award

“I am justifiably proud that the Overstrand Fire Department has come up trumps at the 2015 Southern African Emergency Services Institute (SAESI) Conference, where the much coveted Rosenbauer Excellent Service Award was bestowed on our firefighters.”

The sentiments of Executive Mayor, Nicolette Botha-Guthrie, resonated amongst the emergency service agencies in attendance at the recent Overstrand Fire Department’s seasonal  review breakfast hosted by the Windsor Hotel in thanks of the sterling services rendered by the emergency personnel within the district. Along with the award, the Fire Department also received cutting-edge tools and equipment worth a staggering R75,000 from Michael von der Heyde, a representative of one of SAESI’s key sponsors, Rosenbauer, the manufacturer  and distributor of world-class fire equipment apparatus and trucks.

“This award is all the more special given the unwavering commitment and dedication of the fire department and other emergency services to our communities in the face of the        devastating and destructive fires over the past while, and in the time ahead as the fire season unfolds,” said the Mayor.

The SAESI Conference is the biggest emergency management services (EMS) event in Africa, and culminates with an award ceremony based on fire departments across the country competing along the guidelines of strict criteria over a prescribed period.
