Jong (Jongumhlaba) Diko (41) is a Xhosa-speaking man from Masakhane, where he and his wife, Nosihle and their 4 children lived for the past 11 years. Jong started his career at Supa Quick in the Industrial area three years ago, where he worked in the Tyre Department. About three months ago Jong’s dream came true. He has been promoted to be fully in charge of the Tyre Department as Supervisor. “This means I have to take several decisions on a regular basis. I have to distribute the workload between myself and my two staff members and take care of several other supervisor’s tasks,” Jong said, “but I still do my part of the work as well!”
