Odwa Mntakaziwa from Gansbaai Academia said she received her Diamond Certificate as young biologist with great honor.

She had to work for 55 hours during the school holidays as a volunteer at the Two Oceans Aquarium in Cape Town.

“It was fun meeting new people and telling them about Nature,” she said. “I experienced so many things which actually changed my attitude towards nature.”

At first she was a bit uncertain during the young biologist course and experienced a lack of selfconfidence, specially because many of the learners were from Cape Town.

Her good results afterwards convinced her that it is not important from where you come from, but the commitments in life you are prepared to make.

“If you aim low, you will be low, but if you aim higher, you will be up there,” she said.

Being around with those learners from Cape Town, helped Odwa to get new ideas of studying which she can apply to her own schoolwork to help improving her marks.

Any other learner who wishes to become a young biologist, apply online at the two Oceans Aquarium or Miss Van Eck and Miss Meiring can also be asked for advise.

Odwa said when a learner receives the biologist certificate, a beach clean-up must be done.
