Computer Hut's Fibre Internet Project

Having broadband internet at one’s home is no longer a “nice to have” service. It has already become a vital utility for people to not only communicate with but also to manage their day to day lives. With banking, retail, education and entertainment all evolving at rapid rates by use of online services, it has never been more important to have a stable and always-on internet connection.

In the 1990’s it became possible to dial-up to the internet by using traditional copper telephone lines. Then in the early 2000s, the same telephone lines started being used to give ADSL services which saw faster internet becoming available but at relatively high costs.

Fibre optic communication evolved from the need to have a data transmission medium which has the capability to transmit at rates much faster than copper wiring can do and which is cost-effective to implement. In the case with telephone wires, electricity is sent through it to establish communication whereas with fibre optic light is sent through a pipe akin to a modern type of morse code.

The Computer Hut is in the process to bring this type of technology to your home. We have already installed km’s of ducting in the CBD area, the industrial area as well as around Spar and the municipal grounds as part of phase one. We will soon be trenching our way up to Perlemoenbaai, Stanfordsbaai and through De Kelders all the way up to Normandy Street.

We are very excited to be bringing this type of service to your home and/or business and we would very much appreciate it if you could fill out our online service questionnaire in order for us better scope what our customers need. You can find the survey form by clicking here.
