Recipe: Choc Caramel Popcorn Cake
INGREDIENTS
- 2 cups cake four
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 3 Tsp baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1 cup of sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- 2 cups chocolate icing
- 1 packet caramel popcorn
- 1 recipe caramel condensed milk sauce
METHOD
1. Sift the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together, mix in sugar and add to a large mixing bowl.
2. Keep 1 cup of flour mix separate for later.
3. Now add the eggs and oil and mix well.
4. Add the rest of the flour mix and the milk and mix until smooth.
5. Butter or non-stick spray a deep cake pan and decant cake batter into pan. You may also use 2 cake pans, dividing the batter in 2.
6. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees Celsius; or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
7. Cut the cake in equal layers and spread in between with chocolate icing, using slightly more on the top.
8. Now press the Caramel Popcorn into the icing on top and finish the decoration by drizzling the cake with the caramel sauce.
9. Serve carefully and enjoy with abandon!
