‘Sunset Walk’ Uitstekend Ondersteun

-Gansbaai Toerisme-

Vanjaar se ‘Sunset Walk’ is uitstekend deur sowat 60 dapper-stappers ondersteun. Die inkomste van hierdie jaarlikse inisiatief deur Gansbaai Toerisme is ten bate van liefdadigheid. Vanjaar se winste word aan Overstrand Hospice oorhandig.

Die groot groep het nie ‘n baie lang stap aangedurf nie. Hulle het by CapeNature se Natuurreservaat, rigting De Kelders, seelangs begin stap tot bokant die Drupgrotte. Behalwe vir die see, kuslyn, fynbos en rotsformasies, was ons ‘vriendelike reuse’, die Suidelike Noorkapper walvisse (Southern Right whales) die stappers se ‘metgeselle’ vir sover as wat hulle gestap het. By die eindpunt het welkome worsbroodjies en koue koeldrank op die stappers gewag. Dit is flink deur Glenda Kitley (Bestuurder: Gansbaai Toerisme) en twee van haar personeellede, Asavela Dlova en Ayanda Kotani bedien, asook Rassie en Madelene Prinsloo, oorspronklik van Rustenburg, Noord-Wes Provinsie. Tussen die etery deur kon almal ‘n asemrowende sonsondergang geniet - met die walvisse wat nie skaam was om hulself te vertoon nie. 

Vanjaar se stappende-gasspreker was Mike Dormer, wat die stap saam met sy eggenote, Elaine meegemaak het. Mike beskik oor jarelange en deeglike geologie-kennis. “Dit was moeilik om met sowat 60 mense in die oopte sinvol oor rotsformasies en dies sinvol te gesels, maar ek het my bes probeer,” vertel Mike. “Min mense besef dat slegs die kort entjie wat ons gestap het, ‘n legio van geologiese verskynsels bevat waaroor boeke geskryf kan word.”

Gans-Berg Nuus het Mike se kontakbesonderhede bekom en hy het tot ‘n media-onderhoud ingestem - en wat ‘n fenominale en interessante onderhoud was dit nie! Gans-Berg Nuus gaan, met Mike Dormer se hulp, met ‘n eksklusiewe reeks in ons weeklikse uitgawes oor geografiese wonders begin - met die hooffokus op ons eie omgewing.
