Western Cape Winter Storms: Grootbos Foundation's Response

Last week, the Western Cape was hit by multiple winter storms, causing floods in many parts of the Cape Flats, Cape Winelands, and Cape Overberg. We stayed in close contact with our communities and children to ensure their safety, warmth, and nourishment, especially on the two days when schools were officially closed.

Despite the deluge, the Green Futures College students remained cheerful and productive, cleaning milkwood seeds and preparing other fynbos seeds for future propagation at our restoration sites. Local Disaster Management Teams worked tirelessly to keep people safe, and we are happy to report that the people of the surrounding towns and villages are in good spirits.

We hope you are all safe and sound.
