The annual (African) Penguin Waddle officially kicked off on Monday (10 March 2014) and we’re proud to be the starting point to this important environmental event.
Starting off at the Gansbaai Tourism Bureau on Monday morning, the waddlers continue to Stanford. On Tuesday they continue from Stanford to Hermanus and reach Kleinmond on Wednesday evening. On Thursday the waddling continues from Kleinmond to Betty’s Bay and on Friday it leads to the Strand and Muizenberg. Tomorrow (Saturday) morning the waddlers take off for the last stretch and finally reach their destination of Boulders Beach.
The Penguin Waddle is held every year with the aim to raise awareness for the endangered African Penguin. Although financial donations are always welcome, the event asks that you make a promise for the year ahead to in some way better the lives of our marine life, especially of Penguins. Reducing your use of plastic products, recycling, doing beach clean-ups, etc. are some of the promises which are made every year and can make all the difference to the cutest member of the Marine Big 5.
