A Heartfelt End to 'Chelsea Flowers in Stanford'

Sunday, 6 October 2024 marked the final day of Chelsea Flowers in Stanford. On Monday, our Grootbos Foundation team carefully deconstructed the breathtaking fynbos installation and spread joy throughout the village by handing out free bunches of fynbos to the wonderful people of Stanford. This gesture was our way of thanking the community for opening their hearts and preparing the entire village to welcome visitors for over two weeks.

The simple beauty of mixed fynbos bunches brought smiles to the villagers, who took them home to grace their kitchen tables or placed them at family graves in the Stanford cemetery, a touching tribute to those who have lived and worked in this fynbos landscape for generations.

Thank you to everyone who supported Chelsea Flowers in Stanford! Your tickets, purchases, and love for the event ensure the continued work of the Grootbos Foundation, from conservation to sports development and skills training.

From left to right (second image on the banner): Tristan Woudberg, Leon Kluge, Bulelani Bashe, and Chris Lochner, who were instrumental in building both the original RHS Chelsea exhibit in London (May 2024) and its replicate in Stanford (September 2024). What an incredible team!
