Sevengill cow sharks belong to the order Hexanchiformes. They are related to sharks that lived in the Jurassic Period about 300 million years ago!
Sevengill sharks are ovoviviparous, which means that they nourish their young through yolk sacs inside the uterus, and then give birth to live young. They can have between 80 and 90 pups at one time, each measuring 40-50cm! Females are pregnant for around 1 year, and then take a year off from reproducing
