Hockey Training with SAHA Equipment and Turf Repurposing in Gansbaai
While the artificial turf is being replaced, the hockey kids are continuing their training with the help of plastic hockey sticks and balls, generously sponsored by the South African Hockey Association.
This equipment allows the boys to play hockey on hard surfaces like netball courts, parking lots, and even in the streets. It was specifically designed to help grow hockey in rural areas that don’t have the luxury of proper facilities. The ball is also larger than a standard hockey ball, making it easier for younger kids to learn the basics of stick handling and ball control.
Sustainable Effort:
Not a scrap of the old artificial turf went to waste! It has been repurposed and distributed throughout the Gansbaai community, benefiting ECD crèches, schools, and even backyard businesses. This turf, which has served the community for 16 years, continues to make a difference.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible!
