NATION-WIDE INCREASE IN OPERATING LICENCE APPLICATION FEES
The Tourism Registrar
1. The Second Amendment to the National Land Transport Regulations (2009) was published on 2 August 2024 under Government Gazette number 51003 for immediate implementation by Provincial Regulatory Entities.
2. This included an amendment to Regulation 49 under the heading “Forms and fees”. In terms of the amended regulations, the Department may amend the forms and fees shown in Schedule 2 from time to time without the need to amend the regulations. It is further stipulated that the fees shown in Schedule 2 must be increased on the 1st of April each year in accordance with any increase reflected in the Consumer Price Index (“CPI”) as published from time to time by the National Treasury.
3. I enclose a letter received from the national Department of Transport dated 17 July 2025 regarding the implementation of revised application fees. The adjustments are necessary to accommodate for increased administrative costs and to ensure the effective delivery of services to our valued clients. The operating licence application fees were increased by 4.61% in accordance with the CPI for the 2025/26 financial year.
4. Please advise all your members that the adjusted fees will be implemented as from 1 August 2025 as per the attached Schedule.
