Young Scientists Train at Grootbos Foundation
The Grootbos Environmental Centre recently hosted the sixth DIPoDIP entomological training course, two full weeks of learning, discovery and teamwork.
Participants, including Happiness and Kgomotso, were guided by museum scientists who shared their skills in collecting, pinning and identifying different fly families. The DIPoDIP project focuses on understanding pollinating flies and their role in Afrotropical biodiversity.
This year’s group of 16 young entomologists came from South Africa, Kenya, Burundi, Namibia, Tanzania and Ethiopia. It was an honour for the Grootbos Foundation to welcome and support this dedicated team of future scientists!
