What an AMAZING ‘Postponed SteriDay’!
What started as a setback turned into one of our most heart-warming community days yet! Jason and I were already at the venue by 07:00 to catch anyone who might have missed the postponement notification - thankfully, most did, but SteriThon turned those lemons into pure lemonade!
First, a huge thank you to Trudy, who arrived with brownies originally meant for the catering. Not long after, a young boy arrived with his sick puppy, so we helped, shared a brownie, and told him to send his friends with their pups for treatment, and just like that, a mobile clinic was born!
Throughout the morning we:
• Treated wounds
• Dewormed most of Blompark
• Provided tick and flea care
• Shared basic first-aid skills
• Cleaned wounds and offered guidance
A big shoutout to Adele for jumping in with her amazing tick-removal and skin treatment skills!
The incredible EberVet team donated prepacked kibble, and thanks to them, every malnourished pet that arrived went home with a week’s worth of high-quality food.
We also managed to register 29 more dogs for sterilisation, including several female pitbulls. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
To Sheryll, who was stuck in Pearly due to the fire disaster, we missed you terribly! You would’ve loved the energy of the day.
SAAWIA also stepped in when needed, and we were able to issue a warning for animal abuse on Leeubekkie Street.
Thank you to every volunteer, every donor, and every pet parent who showed up.
A challenging day turned into a huge success filled with new faces, wagging tails, and grateful hearts.
