MATTERS ARISING FROM THE PREVIOUS MINUTES

INFRASTRUCTURE AND MAINTENANCE

The rubbish around the village is still an issue. Councillor Fourie confirmed that he would set up a meeting with Craig Mitchell and Enviro-Serve early in the new year to discuss ways of addressing the increased refuse being left outside the gate as well as the state of the drop-off zone.

It was noted that stricter measures should be enforced regarding the recording of vehicle number plates and contact details of those using the Drop Off Zone. Those using the drop-off zone, (including holidaymakers) need to be reminded of the opening times of the drop-off zone and the fact that the zone is closed on a Wednesday.

Alderman Coetzee will liaise to the Area Manager, Kat Myburgh regarding the project of the re-painting of the whale in the enclosure. This will be undertaken next year. Preliminary discussions indicated that the committee would oversee the painting of the whale and that the municipality would provide the paint and materials. Ronel Smuts could be approached to assist with painting of the barnacles etc.

Law Enforcement has been requested to remove estate agents’ boards where there are more than two on one property. Cllr Fourie has made a formal request in writing to this effect.

The committee was asked to note the Fire Department number to call in case of an emergency which is 028 312 2400.

FINANCE AND MEMBERSHIP

Trevor outlined the current bank balance details and informed those present that subscriptions for next year, 2023, had been received from two members. Members will be encouraged to pay their fees in the newsletter to be distributed shortly.

GENERAL

The ablution blocks have been cleaned and painted. Castle Beach, the Blue Flag Beach was officially opened on 2 December 2022 for the season.

Liezel de Villiers has been requested to upgrade and update the beach posters.

It was suggested that Telkom be approached for permission to remove the telephone poles around the village as these are no longer being used.

A repeater needs to be installed on the water tower before the security camera can be erected. This needs to be included in the budget.

The water level in the Pearly Beach (white water) dam is low, at about 30% - therefore our water might have a slight brown tinge to it.

The date of the January meeting will be confirmed after the festive season is over.

With nothing further to discuss, the meeting was closed at 15h30.
