Nightlife in Gansbaai
At the end of a long day of exploring our unique little town, pull up a chair and enjoy swapping travel stories with locals. The Gansbaai communityis a small one and you are bound to see a familiar face when you venture out to discover the local nightlife. Always laughing, always ready for a shuffle on the dance floor – our locals are a jolly bunch!
Wander into town and follow the sound of laughter to the nearest pub to experience our home-grown hospitality. The doors are always open and the staff is ever ready to provide you with the best home-brewed beer or crazy local cocktail concoctions. They might even hook you in to sing karaoke in a proper saloon.
But being away from home doesn’t mean you need to miss out on your weekly sport entertainment. Grab a drink at one of our sports pubs and catch the latest game on the big screen TV’s while you decide whether to call it soccer or football.
Down the road you have a selection of traditional cuisine like proper home-made chicken pie or maybe bobotie to line your stomach before you head into the night. You also have different views of the harbour to choose from, as a few pubs are located in that area. Small groups of friends and distant travellers usually litter the outside decks at sunset warming up for the night. In this case you should definitely follow the crowd.
Time to get wild in the wild –follow the road out of town and find yourself in the fun corner of the world. Step into a rustic pub with records on the walls and people all over. A variety of local drinks and a smiling barman awaits you at the bar, so pull up a chair. Quite often they will have braai facilities outside, pool tables and a checker board dance floor – the perfect mix for a proper Gansbaai get-together. Otherwise, foosball, poker games and pumping music should keep you busy till the cows come home. Getting out there is the best way to discover the local culture and make friends in our small town.
Depending on the crowd you can dance the night away with your friends or end up sharing travelling tales with the locals till the wee hours of the morning. Our ‘party scene’ may be as unpredictable as our surrounding seas but might just persuade you to stay another day.
