Youth Talent Shines in Gansbaai
This past weekend in Gansbaai, the Star Search Overstrand auditions drew a vibrant crowd, showcasing a spectacular range of local youth talent. From traditional dance and contemporary singing to rap and creative expressions, the performances were truly memorable.
The finalists are now heading to Stanford to compete at Chelsea Flowers on Saturday, October 5th. Co-hosts Nolondi, the 2023 winner, and Stembiso, a finalist from the Zwelihle Young Brothers, brought their energy and charisma to the stage, keeping the audience captivated. Special guest judge Spiro, known for his contributions to theatre and youth development, was thrilled by the diverse talent and said, "It was amazing seeing all different genres on one stage."
Supported by five third-year film student interns under Rockpool Media’s guidance, the event captured every exciting moment. The next Star Search Hermanus audition is on Saturday, September 14th at the New Harbour Multipurpose Centre at 1 pm. Talents aged 13 to 28 are invited to participate, with transport options available for those coming from Kleinmond and Hawston.
