Platbos Hike: A Magical Forest Adventure

On Saturday, 36 eager hikers stepped into the Afro Montane forest at Platbos. It was a moderately hot day, but what really stood out was the intense 93% humidity - definitely not the norm! It made for a unique and unforgettable experience.

Platbos has a special kind of magic - twisted tree trunks, Old Man’s Beard draped in the branches, and maybe even a leprechaun or two hiding under the leaves. The forest watches in silence, its hidden creatures observing as we pass through.

A huge thank you to Melissa for sharing her incredible forest and making it possible for us to summit the mountain. It’s inspiring to see newly purchased land already being cleared of alien plants and replanted with indigenous trees. Well done to all involved!

And to our hikers - thank you for pushing through the tough conditions, the climb, and the descent. A few cramps, some creaky joints, but plenty of laughter and great memories.

Like Schwarzenegger says, "We will be back!"
