Grootbos Hike with Strandveld Hiking Club

We had a lovely hike this past Saturday on the Grootbos Foundation property, close to the Grootbos Eco Centre. The 8km route took us through all kinds of natural beauty - from Milkwood forests and Fynbos to Afro Montane areas.

The rain held off just long enough for us to finish dry, and the waterfalls were stunning! We were amazed by the deep forest in the gullies and the views from higher up. Sugarbush, Compacta, and even a few pincushions were still in bloom, with sugarbirds and tortoises making appearances too.

A big thank you to the Grootbos team for welcoming us to explore their incredible conservancy. It’s always a pleasure to walk in such a well-cared-for space.

Everyone had a great time - especially our overseas guests who were blown away by the beauty of the Overberg.

We’re already looking forward to the next visit!
