TEMPORARY RECYCLING BAG SHORTAGE

Overstrand Municipality works closely with residents to support regular household recycling and responsible waste disposal.

Our solid waste team works according to a set schedule, servicing different areas on specific days. On your collection day, both general waste (in black bags) and clean recyclables (in clear bags) are picked up and taken to the recycling plant, where recyclables are sorted and baled. Waste should only be placed out for collection early on the morning of the scheduled collection day. Do not leave household waste on the pavement overnight or place it out for collection on any other day.

For every clear plastic bag placed out for collection, a new one is usually provided as a replacement. However, due to a delay in our supply/tender process, some areas within Overstrand, may experience a temporary shortage of clear bags.

In the meantime, we kindly ask residents who are able to do so to buy a roll of clear bags during their normal shopping, just as a temporary measure.

As a reminder, only clean and dry items should go in the clear bags. Black bags are for wet waste or anything that can’t be recycled.

Thank you for doing your part to keep Overstrand clean and green.
