Typical golfer? A golfer arrived at the Club to find a new and inexperienced-looking caddie holding his bag.
“Can you count correctly?” he asked the caddie. “Yes sir”, came the reply. “Can you add correctly?” “Yes, sir” “What’s the total of 5 and 4 and 3” asked the golfer.
“Nine, sir”.  “Right then, come along, I think we’ll get along just fine”.

Play it as it lies – Ball at rest moved:  If you or your partner move either of your balls, on purpose or accidentally, add a penalty stroke to your score, replace it and play.  If someone else or something else – say your opponent’s golf ball – moves your ball (i.e. an outside agency) there is no penalty, but you must replace it.  If the ball is moved by wind or water, you must play it as it lies.  One of the recent changes to the Rules, introduced in 2012, concerns a ball that moves after it has been addressed.  If the player is certain that he did not cause the ball to move, he may now continue without penalty.  For example, if a gust of wind moves the ball after it has been addressed, there is no penalty and the ball must be played from its new position.  And, here’s an important one:  If you move a loose impediment (stone, twig, etc) that causes your ball to move, it’s a one-stroke penalty, and you have to replace the ball where it was and continue.  The only exception is when you are on the putting green, then there is no penalty.
