Spring Wildflowers at Grootbos and Walker Bay

This vygie from the previously burnt veld is a new species recorded for Grootbos: Erepsia oxysepala. Listed as Vulnerable, this record represents a possible range extension (previously only known from Riviersonderend to Kogelberg until one was found in Agulhas last year).

Sticking with pinks and green, this is Lachenalia lutzeyeri at Grootbos in the spring...

This is Watsonia barbonica photographed in the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy.

This pretty-in-pink flower is Lachenalia rosea.
Our parting shot this week is from the great outdoors. In a world of AI, we prefer to choose a real field of Watsonia stenosiphon in the conservancy. Each Watsonia seems to have a companion flower...in this case, it is Moraea fugax. Isn't it lovely? No AI needed. On behalf of all of the Grootbos Foundation team, I wish you a beautiful weekend.
