WAT se Borg n Woord

 “Ek hou ‘n papiertjie vas…in ou Gansbaai taal het die stukkie papier ‘n naam gehad - dit is jou voldaantjie en in die Tweetalige Afrikaans-Engels Woordeboek word dit as content, satisfied, paid, receipt vertaal,” skryf Philip Fourie van Franskraal in sy berig, “Die Voldaantjie”. Berig hierna.

Intussen het Philip die woord “voldaantjie” as ‘n woord vir die Woordeboek van die Afrikaanse Taal (WAT) se fondswerwingsprojek, “Borg ‘n Woord”, geborg.  In Die Burger van 7 Februarie 2015 verwys Willem de Vries onder die opskrif, “Kry jóú voldaantjie”, na Philip Fourie wat die woord “voldaantjie” geborg het, wat as “kwitansie” of “koopbewys” verklaar kan word. Philip het terselfdertyd die woord “kees” geborg, aangesien sy familie reeds vyf geslagte die bynaam “Kees” dra. “My oupagrootjie se pa het as lekeprediker in die Gansbaai-gebied opgetree en kon nie die g-klank uitspreek nie en het dit as ‘n k-klank uitgespreek. Hy het toe een Sondag gesê: ‘die kees kom deur die kloof’, in plaas van ‘die gees kom deur die geloof’ en toe glip die boere uit die kerk om hul mielies teen die bobbejane te gaan beskerm!”
