Ferdi se 11kg Kabeljou vrygelaat

Ferdi van Dyk (24) van Stellenbosch het op 7 Junie 2015 ‘n yslike kabeljou van 11kg gevang. “Ek het die kabeljou by die sandduine anderkant Uilenkraalsmond gevang,” vertel hy.

“Ons wou eintlik steenbras vang, toe dié grote die hoek vat en loop, en dít nogal in die winter.” Die kabeljou is 103cm lank en is met ‘n 3/0 hoek en bloedwurm gevang. Ferdi se optrede daarna sal menige hengelaar se hare laat rys, aangesien hy die pragtige kabeljou net ge-“tag” het en weer vrygelaat het nadat die voorbladfoto geneem is.

"Ek doen graag ‘n beroep op hengelaars wat die kabeljou weer vang, of enige ander vis wat ge-tag is, om my asseblief te kontak,” versoek Ferdi. Hy sê hy sal dit waardeer indien die volgende inligting dan verskaf kan word: lengte van vis; spesie; datum wanneer gevang; plek waar gevang; ID-nommer op tag.

Ferdi is ‘n Finansiële Beampte by die Frederick van Zyl Instituut aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch. Hy is ook die seun van ds Dirk van Dyk van Gansbaai NG-gemeente, wat self gaande daaroor is om so gereeld as wat daar tyd is, ‘n “ou lyntjie nat te maak”, veral vanaf sy boot, “Huisbesoek”. “Onthou tog net - Ferdie het sy kabeljou sonder Huisbesoek se hulp gevang het!” sê Dirk.
